a) May not have heard about the website Flat Iron Experts
b) May not know why you should care about its existence

If you read my post, I’ll give you 15 good reasons why you should  go take a look at this treasure trove of hair straightening information.

However, if you read this post, I’ll give 3 more reasons you should go there:

For the next two days, if you spend over $100 (CAD) then you will get 3 free gifts:

Gift #1: A free KQC X-Heat Mini Flat Iron valued at $59.95. When I went to New York 2 years ago, I made my first attempt to get all of my stuff into a carry on bag so I wouldn’t have to pay to check my luggage. It was so amazing to be able to stick my little mini flat iron into that ity bity luggage. A big ol’ full size would not have worked. And KQC is one of the top picks of hair stylists and has great reviews from it’s users.

Gift #2: KQC Shine Spray valued at $18.99. You know, if a flat iron is doing its job, it will make your hair glossy. However, a little extra gloss never hurt and that’s what this shine will do. It will make it shiny without making it greasy (according to its users).

Gift #3: Macadamia Repair Mask valued at ???. Sorry couldn’t find the price on this one although I know it can be up to $21 depending on the size of the jar. Regardless, the reviews say that it makes you hair soft and silky. I can only imagine how gorgeous your hair would look if you used this before you straightened your hair with your new ceramic flat iron and finished it off with the shine spray. Girl, you would be killing it. Alright, 3 more reasons to get yourself to FlatironExperts.comand get the hook up. Don’t forget. You only have until Tuesday to get all of this so don’t miss out.

Update: The Sale is still going on until Oct.8….I”m noticing a pattern here!

Talk to you soon,

TR Flat Iron Review Quiz Scavenger Hunt

Hello All,
So we’ve had quite a few posts now and something I really like doing are quizzes. There’s several reasons for that.
1) They are fun
2) They are hands on
3) They force you to…think!!!

In light of all of these wonderful things, I have come up with a quiz that will require you to go on a treasure or scavenger hunt around this blog to find the answers. It’s a sneaky way to get you to read the posts that you decided to skip over for whatever reason…or to discover ones you never knew about. And perhaps in the process, you will find a flat iron for your very own. Yea!!!
So let’s begin…
[mtouchquiz 2]
So how did you do? Did you learn about a new flat iron? The Ginalli Milano perhaps? Did you sign up for the 5 Flat Iron Fairy Tales email series yet (hint hint)?
I hope you had fun on your scavenger hunt. Obviously, as I do more and more posts doing a quiz like this would be hard so I wanted to do while there was still relatively few posts.
Be sure to come back soon because you never know what’s in store. You may kick yourself if you miss it.
Stay Tuned,

KQC Flat Iron Review: All Your Buring Questions Answered Here!

What’s up ya’ll,
So in my Youtube video of the same name, I promised some links to certain things so here they are:
FlatironExperts.com Online Beauty Shop Coriolis Flat Irons Amika Flat Irons Amika Flat Irons I also promised that I would give ya’ll more in depth answers to the questions in case you needed more explanation.

But first let me explain what the heck I’m talking about. What I’ve done was searched and found the questions that people asked in the comment section of this video:

[vsw id=”BYSg6nowKvE” source=”youtube” width=”425″ height=”344″ autoplay=”no”]

Then I created my own video, answering all of the major questions that were asked about the KQC X-Heat flat iron. Here’s my video response…

[vsw id=”slP6ZDDNotw” source=”youtube” width=”425″ height=”344″ autoplay=”no”]

Now, I want to answer their questions in more detail, so if I answered your question in the video, look for your name in red:

NidaBasir asked: Hi i was just wondering what u preffered for really thick rebellious hair, the KQC or the Avanti CROC?
My Answer: Avanti and Croc are two different flat iron companies and while they both make good flat irons (depending on the type), I think the KQC flat irons are better quality based on what I’ve read and user reviews.
flowerbloempje asked: Hello, I wanna know where I can buy the Flat iron. Are there fake KQC flat irons? And is there a special KQC flat iron for thick hair. And can you curl your hair also with this flat iron? Because I only want to straighten it. And I have very thick and curly hair, what KQC flat iron is the best for me?
My Answer: You can buy KQC X-Heat at Flat Iron Experts . There is no particular KQC flat iron for thick hair but I believe it would work for thick hair for sure. As I said before, it works for thick natural African American hair so it shouldn’t be a problem. And if there are fake KQC straighteners, I don’t think they would come from Flat Iron Experts.
EduStef asked: hi Rose! i will like know Is it true that the CROC INFRARED flat iron is better that KQC?? (i have the kqc because of you :)♥)…or the question is tourmaline vs infrared? what you do think?
My Answer:The Croc Infrared and the KQC are both good choices. The thing is, the KQC might be great for your friend and not so good for you while the Croc might be amazing for your hair and not so good for your friend. It’s all relative. But there is a good chance based on the numbers that the KQC will work for you. And you have a 30 day window to return it if you buy it from Flat Iron Experts.
1jlovesmac asked: hello im from the uk are the plugs the same as i want to get a kqc because ghds work in other countries than yhe uk? xox
and
funlover9467 asked: so are both the mini and the normal size duel voltage cuz i live in ireland ? And if not could you suggest a good flat iron thnxx
and
missmunch05 asked: will the hair straightner work in the UK because i think the plug socket is different??
My Answer: No I don’t think they are dual voltage. But the GHD flat irons are I believe and they are made in Korea so they might have the same type of technology as the KQC.
ShakenNotStirredx asked: Do you know if flatironexperts ship to the uk?
My Answer: No but Amazon does and it has the KQC X-Heat
PinkMuffin143 asked: Would the KCQ work for thick and curly hair and could you buy it in stores??
My Answer: Yes it will work for thick and curly hair for sure. It works for natural African-American hair too. If you live in Canada then you can buy it at a few places but you can’t really buy it in any stores in America that I can see. Flat Iron Experts is probably the best place to get it since it honors manufacturers warranty.
eyesiheartnihal asked: Is the KQC Flat Iron 100% ceramic?
My Answer: The debate about flat irons being 100% ceramic still rages on. Some people say that flat irons can’t be 100% ceramic because ceramic is an inorganic material that would not be a hard enough material to actually flat iron your hair with. Inbox me and I can send you my flat iron guide with more info. Regardless, the KQC is a great buy.
Cwazyangel00 asked: where can you buy macadamian oil and stuff ? is it available in toronto ?
My Answer: Macadamian Oil is available on Amazon…I would think it would be seeing how Flat Iron Experts is a Canadian company.
RAJASISO asked: hi i am trying to buy KQC but which one is better KQC X-Heat or KQC Red Devil
My Answer: The X-Heat would be the best choice. The X-Heat has Korean heaters which are supposed to be the best in the industry.
chloemariie96  asked: EVERYONE!! PLEASE ANSWER IF YOU KNOW. whats the difference between the KQC X-Heat Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron & the KQC Red Devil Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron ????
My Answer: The biggest difference I see is that the kqc x-heat has Korean ceramic heaters and they seem to be the best in the business. They are known for heating up quickly and for having few hot spots and even heat across the plate. The Red Devil does not have this technology.
FLiH69 asked: iWant To Buy This Flatiron; iF iBuy iT Today Does It Still Come With The Mini Flatiron, Free Shipping, &’ Heat Protecting/ Shine Spray Whatever? &’ Does The Discount Still Work? Thanks(:
and
Cjonassass101 asked: the kqc doesn’t come with the mini flat iron no more right?
and
skinnyjeanzzzfreakkk: Will this offer to get heat protectent spray and the mini flat iron still be avaliable in august.? (: Your video’s are great plz dnt ever quit!!
My Answer: Yes, there should still be free shipping for orders over $50 and if you spend over a $100 CAD (which shouldn’t be hard since the KQC Flat iron is over $100) then you get the free mini flat iron and the KQC Shine Spray and the flat iron holder. This is as of 10-18-11.
punkalicious123: Does it have a warranty limit?if so, where would you take it in case something goes wrong. Im planning to invest in one, is it worth the money?
My Answer: The KQC flat irons are worth the money, if they work for your hair type. Fortunately, they work on all hair types. But if you try it and you don’t like it, you can always return within 30 days per Flat Iron Experts return policy.
The KQC does come with a 1 year limited warranty and if something goes wrong with it, all you have to do is contact Flat Iron Experts and follow their instructions on how to receive help. There is a link at the bottom of their website that says warranty and it explains the easy process.
Whew! That was a lot of questions. I hope your KQC question was answered somewhere in there. And if this starts to take off, I will plan on doing more of these question and answer video posts.
Go ahead and visit FlatironExperts.comwhile you still have a chance to get the mini flat iron, KQC Shine Spray, and flat iron holder. That is a major deal that you don’t want to miss. You could be on your way to having gorgeous hair like Rosebud so don’t wait!

Hana Flat Iron Review Part 1: An Unexpected but Welcome Gift

  Hello All,

This is my absolute favorite time of year. The decorations are beautiful (and sometimes beautifully gaudy), the food is rich and cheesy and buttery and chocolately (not necessarily the same dish). The presents that you give and receive are over the top expensive and lavish. It’s decadently wonderful.

And we are barely in the middle of Christmas season and already I have received an unexpected gift.  I set up a new email account some months ago (contactme@toprateflatironreviews.com) hoping to get an email from a reader, a hater of me or this blog, ANYONE…I mean I would take spam at this point.

Then one day, I got an email from some guy named John with the subject Product Review. My ears perked up and  my eyes got wide.  I’m telling you. If you are only going to get one email, this is the one to get.  I was super excited.
He introduced himself as John from the flat iron website Misikko.com and asked me if I was interested in reviewing one of their flat irons (hmmm, let me think??).  Needless to say, I readily agreed as I was always a big fan of Misikko.com anyway. Their website has a look and feel to it that I’ve always loved.
We exchanged a few more emails and before long I was notified that my flat iron was on its way. The flat iron that he sent was the  Hana flat iron, which is their site’s biggest seller. And it got to my house VERY quickly. It was mailed on the 14th and it was delivered on the 17th  of November.
When I got it, I didn’t open it for a few days because I was busy.  So when I opened it on a Saturday just to see what the flat iron looked like I got a bit of a surprise.
OMG!
I was not expecting everything that I saw when I opened that box. The way it was arranged was so adorable. And the freebies…there were tons. I felt like I had gotten a swag bag backstage at the Grammys or something.
I had to take pictures so ya’ll could see it. I only had my iphone at the time to take a pictures of the box. Trust me, it doesn’t do it justice but you’ll get the idea.

This is a breakdown of everything that I got:
1) a Hana  VIP Card 2) A Ionic round brush 3)Lip gloss 4) Mascara 5) Sleep Eye Mask 6) Silicone mat 7) Leather Storage Case 8) Bottle of Hana Shine Serum/Heat Protectant 9) Hana flat iron storage tin. 10) 2 carrying cases
And a Hana Professional flat iron, of course.
Can you say “Dang Gina”? That is a whole lot of free stuff. And the packaging came in my favorite color too (purple). I emailed John to thank him for everything and asked him if they usually package everything like that and he said they did so be prepared to get your own swag when you order a Hana flat iron from Misikko.
But as nice as all that is, it means nothing if the actual flat iron isn’t good. I still hadn’t even used it but I was already in love. I had to calm myself down and actually try the product and soon.
Then, one day later that week,  I came up with a brilliant idea. A devilishly wickedly brilliant idea (as wicked and devilish an idea about flat irons can be).
But ya’ll have to come back tomorrow to see what my idea was b/c this post is already quite long. So I shall see you on the morrow when I will reveal this brilliant idea with all of you.
Prepare for possible amazement,

Hana Flat Iron Review Part 2: My Brilliant Flat Ironing Idea

So,
If you haven’t already, go ahead and read this post first. Then you will understand the idea that I”m about to share with you.

I have been reading flat iron reviews for years. I have seen a million flat iron review videos.  A lot of the time, these videos don’t even show the reviewer using the flat iron. Or that reviewers’ hair is already straight or just barely “wavy” and supposedly very “thick”. Then they show you how that  flat iron magically transforms their “wavy” and “thick” hair to sleek and straight in about 3 or 4 passes.
I’m sorry, that’s not very impressive to me. How hard is it for a flat iron to straighten nearly straight hair when you pass over each section 10 times. Forget that.
This is not really challenging these flat irons. That’s not showing me how well they work. The $10 Conair from Walmart can straighten that type of hair.
But, what if we really put a flat iron to the test? What if we actually made them sing for their supper. It’s time for a flat iron review that really shows you how effective it is.
In other words, its fine to see how well a flat iron does when you do everything right.
But wouldn’t you like to know how well a flat iron does if you do EVERY thing wrong?
So, I decided I was going to do just that. Instead of…
1) Using a straightening shampoo 2) Using a straightening conditioner 3) Blow drying my hair with a straightening serum and… 4) Flat ironing each section of my hair 3 or 4 times
I was going to throw all of the rules out the window. I was going to flat iron my hair in its current condition, no blow drying, no washing or conditioning, no leave-ins, no rollersets…nothing.
It’s just me, my hair, round brush, two sided brush, shine serum/heat protectant, and the flat iron. Nothing else.
Now, let’s see what this flat iron can really do.
Oh and let me explain about my hair. I don’t have “wavy” and “thick” hair. No love. I have THICK, coarse, curly and coily 4a/4b hair (find out what that means here).
It is not easy to get my hair straight at all. In fact, I have claimed the sole title of having the “hardest hair to straighten in the world”. My hair has laughed at many a flat iron and hair relaxer. Has my hair finally met its flat iron match?
To fully appreciate this transformation, you have to see just how coily and thick my hair was before I flat ironed it. Now I only did a few sections because I didn’t want to flat iron all of my hair like that in case it was damaging but you will be able to see the difference:
Before pics

You’ve seen my hair, so let me explain to you the steps I took. There’s not many. This is what i did:
1) I parted my hair 2) I took a small section of my hair and I brushed it gently with the round ionic brush that was sent with the flat iron. 3) I used the Hana shine serum/heat protectant they sent me. 4) Then I flat ironed that section of the hair very slowly, using a two sided brush for the chase method, 1.5 times. (meaning I did one pass very slowly and then did another quick pass to bump the ends of my hair)
Result?

My hair was straighter and silkier than it had ever gotten with ANY other flat iron. No I am not exaggerating. No I am not being melodramatic. No I am not just saying this because I got a free flat iron. I am under no obligation to say I liked it. Fortunately, I loved it. Now, I could have gone over the sections multiple times and made it even sleeker and smoother but I wanted you to see just how straight it could get my hair in one (point five) passes.  And remember this is without really any of my usual flat ironing preparation.  This is about as straight as it gets in less than two passes.
Let me make a little confession. Even though I am a flat iron reviewer extraordinaire (as I like to think) I have personally never used a flat iron that cost more than $100. I’ve come close but no cigar.
This flat iron is $119 on misikko.com and it is worth every penny. I thought it made a difference to get a more expensive flat iron vs one from Sally’s. But now I know for sure.
It makes a huge difference.
This is personally the best flat iron I have ever used. And this is not even the best Hana flat iron they have. I can only imagine how well the others work. This one is more than good enough for me.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this flat iron to anyone. If it worked on my hair type then it will most likely work for yours too. You can get the Hana flat iron at Misikko.com or Hanasalon.com
Have you ever tried any of the Hana brand flat irons? What is your experience? Did you like it as much as I did or did you just have a so so experience with it? I would love to hear from you. Let me know about it in the comment section.
And stay tuned for the flat iron battle posts coming soon.
Thanks for reading,

Update: I have since used the Hana flat iron over all of my hair. While my hair did feel great initially, my hair did quickly revert back to its original state. My hair didn’t maintain its silky look for long. I do think this flat iron would work with some hair types but unfortunately, it didn’t work with mine for long. I do have hope that it would work well for someone with less coarse hair than mine because it was able to make my hair straight for a while just not very long.
